NY Giants Defensive Standout Sidelined on a ‘Week-to-Week’ Basis Due to a Devastating Injury Setback.

The New York Giants may be without one of their key defensive players for an extended period. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux underwent wrist surgery on Wednesday and is currently classified as week-to-week, according to head coach Brian Daboll, who remains optimistic about his recovery.

Daboll noted that Thibodeaux played through the injury during the Giants’ 29-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, but the team decided to have him evaluated upon returning home. In that game, Thibodeaux recorded half a sack and two tackles.

To fill Thibodeaux’s role, the Giants are likely to rely on fourth-year linebacker Azeez Ojulari, a second-round draft pick from 2021 who has registered one sack and 10 tackles this season.

Defensive standout Dexter Lawrence II expressed his confidence in Ojulari, stating he does not believe there will be a decline in performance and that Ojulari is “capable of holding his own.”

Currently, New York’s defense leads the NFL with 22 sacks this season and will be facing a Cincinnati Bengals offensive line that has allowed only 11 sacks for 55 yards lost, ranking 22nd and 20th in the league, respectively.
