The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus off waivers from the Miami Marlins and have sent him to their triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, New York. Additionally, right-hander Yerry Rodríguez has been designated for assignment.

De Geus, 26, has played in 11 games this season between the Marlins and Mariners, primarily pitching in triple-A for Jacksonville and Tacoma. His combined stats this season include a 5.60 ERA, a 7.9% walk rate, a 14.9% strikeout rate, and a 58.9% groundout rate over 47 appearances.

Throughout his MLB career, de Geus has pitched in 58 games for the Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Mariners, and Marlins, with a 7.17 ERA over 59 innings, recording 47 strikeouts and a 53.6% groundball rate.

Rodríguez has struggled in his four games with the Blue Jays this season, posting a 15.43 ERA, with five strikeouts and nine runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings.
