Nuggets Issue Key Injury Updates Ahead of Game 7 vs. Thunder

The second round of the NBA Playoffs is nearing its conclusion, with the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder set to face off in a decisive Game 7 on Sunday afternoon.

While the Eastern Conference Finals are already locked in, the Minnesota Timberwolves await the winner of this matchup for a chance to reach the NBA Finals. With both teams evenly matched throughout the series, Game 7 promises to be a thrilling showdown.

However, the Nuggets are entering the game with some concerning injury news.

During Denver’s Game 6 victory over Oklahoma City, forward Aaron Gordon appeared to suffer a hamstring injury. The team later confirmed it as a left hamstring strain, placing his availability for Game 7 in doubt. On Saturday, Denver officially listed Gordon as “questionable” — a significant development considering his standout performance throughout the playoffs.

Additionally, Jamal Murray is listed as “probable” after dealing with an illness prior to Game 6, though he played well in that contest. Russell Westbrook, also marked as probable, is dealing with a right hand sprain, which may affect his effectiveness but isn’t expected to sideline him.

Head coach David Adelman noted that Gordon participated in the team’s walkthrough and remains a game-time decision. Adelman emphasized that if Gordon is cleared by the medical staff, he will start. Gordon has been instrumental in the series, averaging 14.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, and he hit the game-winning shot in Game 1.

Denver’s full injury report includes:

  • Probable: Jamal Murray (Illness), Russell Westbrook (Right Hand Sprain)
  • Questionable: Aaron Gordon (Left Hamstring Strain), Hunter Tyson (Right Ankle Sprain)
  • Out: DaRon Holmes II (Right Achilles Tendon Repair)

Murray delivered a strong Game 6 performance with 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists despite his illness. Westbrook, though not at his peak, contributed eight points and remains a key piece depending on Gordon’s status.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are entering Game 7 in much better health. The only player on their injury report is rookie Nikola Topic, who has been sidelined all season following knee surgery.

With home-court advantage and a healthier roster, the Thunder are considered slight favorites. However, Denver’s championship experience and the presence of stars like Nikola Jokic could make all the difference in this win-or-go-home contest.
