NC State Basketball Welcomes Versatile Guard Alyn Breed
The NC State men’s basketball team has officially added Alyn Breed, a former McNeese State and Providence guard, to its 2025–26 roster.
Breed is the first player to follow head coach Will Wade from McNeese State to NC State, after Wade took over the program in late March. Breed previously played three seasons at Providence before transferring to McNeese State, where his 2024–25 season was cut short after just two games due to injury.
On Monday, NC State confirmed Breed’s transfer to the program.

“We’re excited to have Alyn join us at NC State,” said Wade. “I know him well from our time at McNeese. He brings strong two-way potential. He began his college career as a defense-first player, but he’s worked hard to become a scoring threat and a reliable shooter and ballhandler.”

Breed, originally a three-star high school recruit from Georgia, now ranks as a four-star transfer at No. 240 overall and No. 64 among shooting guards in the 247Sports Transfer Rankings. He is one of six transfers joining the Wolfpack this offseason, helping the team land the No. 33 transfer class in the nation.
