Robbie Keane: “There’s still room for improvement!”
Our head coach shared his thoughts following the 1-1 draw against MTK.
As previously reported, our men’s football team — reigning champions with 36 Hungarian league titles — started their Fizz Liga campaign with a 1-1 draw away at MTK. After the match, Irish head coach Robbie Keane gave his assessment:
“I’m disappointed with the result, though at least we didn’t lose. The goal we conceded was frustrating — we shouldn’t allow a right-footed player such a clear shooting opportunity. We lacked quality in front of their goal. We couldn’t connect well with our players inside the box, and we were missing those decisive passes. There’s definitely room for improvement!”
Keane also commented on the performance of the young Hungarian substitutes:
“The young players did well when they came on. Both Nagy and Gruber added energy to the game. At one point, we had six Hungarian players on the pitch.”
