Alabama Softball Freshman Infielder Enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Just two days after the conclusion of Alabama softball’s 2025 season, freshman infielder Kennedy Marceaux has entered the NCAA transfer portal, as reported by Softball Portal on X.
Marceaux participated in 27 games this season for the Crimson Tide, starting in 10 of them—primarily playing at third base. She posted a .310 batting average, recording two home runs and nine RBIs. Among her teammates, only freshman pitcher Braya Hodges appeared in fewer games. Marceaux had a standout performance at the Easton Bama Bash, going 6-for-10 at the plate and earning a spot on the all-tournament team.
She began the season as a starter in seven of Alabama’s first 17 games, but her role diminished as the season progressed. Her final start occurred on April 25 against Missouri, and she did not appear at the plate during Alabama’s NCAA tournament run.
A highly-ranked recruit from Louisiana, Marceaux came to Tuscaloosa after being named the 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year for her state. Extra Inning Softball ranked her as the No. 8 player nationally in the 2024 class. She retains three more years of collegiate eligibility.
Marceaux is the first Alabama player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. So far, no players have committed to transferring in. Alabama’s season concluded in the super regionals with a loss to No. 2 Oklahoma, narrowly missing a third consecutive trip to the Women’s College World Series.
