Official: 1. FC Köln Sign Marius Bülter from Hoffenheim and Extend Contract with Jan Thielmann
In a major step toward strengthening their Bundesliga campaign, 1. FC Köln have officially announced the signing of Marius Bülter from TSG Hoffenheim and the contract extension of homegrown talent Jan Thielmann.
Bülter Joins to Bolster Attack
The 32-year-old winger, Marius Bülter, has inked a deal with Köln running until 2027, with an option for an additional year. Known for his experience and versatility in the final third, Bülter arrives from Hoffenheim with a solid Bundesliga résumé that includes previous stints at Schalke 04 and Union Berlin.
“Marius brings physicality, work ethic, and a great mentality to the squad. He knows what it takes to survive in the Bundesliga and will help us both on and off the pitch,” said Köln sporting director Christian Keller.
Bülter’s arrival adds depth and leadership to a Köln side freshly promoted back to the top flight and eager to avoid another relegation battle.
Thielmann Signs On Until 2028
In another big development, Jan Thielmann has extended his contract with the club until June 2028. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who has already made over 100 appearances for the club, is seen as a cornerstone of Köln’s future.
“Jan is one of our own and a key figure in the identity of this team. Extending with him was a top priority,” Keller added. “He has shown loyalty, maturity, and enormous potential.”
Thielmann, a Germany U21 international, has become a fan favorite at the RheinEnergieSTADION and is expected to play a central role under new coach Lukas Kwasniok.
Looking Ahead
With these two major moves, 1. FC Köln are signaling intent—not just to survive in the Bundesliga, but to build a sustainable and competitive squad. The combination of Bülter’s experience and Thielmann’s youth offers balance and vision as the club gears up for the 2025/26 season.
Further reinforcements are expected in the coming weeks as the transfer window progresses.
