Danny Armstrong Completes Big-Money Move to Dinamo Bucharest
The long-running transfer saga surrounding Danny Armstrong has come to an end, as the former Kilmarnock winger has officially signed a lucrative deal with Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest.
Previously linked with Scottish clubs like Hearts and even rumored to be on Rangers’ radar, Armstrong turned down a contract extension from Kilmarnock to pursue a fresh challenge abroad.
The 27-year-old has now joined Dinamo Bucharest during their pre-season training camp in Poland. After completing his medical, he signed what his agent described as a “life-changing” contract—a two-year deal with an optional third year.
Armstrong’s agent, Adrian Brennan, confirmed the move on social media, expressing excitement over the transfer:
“Thrilled to move my client @danielarmstrong7 from Kilmarnock FC to Dinamo Bucharest in Romania’s Super League on a two-year deal, with an option for a third year.”
With the Romanian league set to kick off on July 12, Dinamo wasted no time in wrapping up the deal. The club, which hasn’t won the league title since 2007, is making significant financial investments to strengthen its squad and return to the top.
Manager Željko Kopic, a Croatian tactician, had been eager to bring in a new winger and saw Armstrong as a key target. Dinamo insisted on a prompt decision, and Armstrong is now set to integrate with the team ahead of the new campaign.
Dinamo president Andrei Nicolescu confirmed the advanced stage of negotiations shortly before the deal was finalized.
He said:
“Talks with Danny Armstrong were well underway. He is a highly promising player and a crucial part of our long-term vision.”
“We’ve made a strategic decision to focus on recruiting international talent this season instead of relying on local players who haven’t proven themselves.”
“There’s a strong ambition to build something special here at Dinamo.”
