Breaking News: Denver Nuggets Sign Tim Hardaway Jr. to One-Year Contract

The Denver Nuggets continue to strengthen their roster in pursuit of improvement, having now added veteran guard Tim Hardaway Jr. on a one-year contract, reportedly for the veteran minimum, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The 33-year-old most recently played for the Detroit Pistons and previously earned Sixth Man of the Year consideration during his time with the Dallas Mavericks. Known for his high-volume three-point shooting at league-average efficiency, Hardaway offers a confident perimeter presence to a Denver team that sometimes hesitated to take open deep shots in past seasons.

Hardaway’s fearless shooting and versatility make him a suitable fit with both the starting lineup and the bench unit—roles he frequently filled in Dallas. Impressively, he converted 63% of his open spot-up three-point attempts last season, potentially addressing one of Denver’s critical weaknesses during their most recent playoff run. However, his arrival could complicate the rotation, particularly for Julian Strawther, who had been expected to fill the bench sharpshooter role if no new additions were made. That decision will fall to head coach David Adelman during the regular season.

Still, the addition of another experienced and capable scorer bolsters Denver’s chances in their continued push for an NBA title. And with a nostalgic twist—Hardaway Jr.’s father briefly played for the Nuggets—it’s a fitting welcome to the Mile High City. Welcome aboard, Tim!
