LSU Football Secures Commitment from Top Louisiana Athlete in 2026 Class

LSU football gained a major addition to its 2026 recruiting class on Saturday night, landing a commitment from standout Louisiana athlete Dezyrian Ellis.

A native of Franklin Parish, Ellis announced his commitment via a video on social media, which concluded with a FaceTime call to LSU cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond.

“We’re about to bring a beast to LSU,” Raymond said during the call.

Although Ellis earned first-team Class 4A All-State honors last season as a quarterback, as voted by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, LSU recruited him as a cornerback. On3 reports that West Virginia had offered him a spot to play quarterback instead.

Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, Ellis is ranked No. 547 nationally and No. 12 in Louisiana for the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

His commitment brings LSU’s total number of cornerbacks for this recruiting cycle to two. He joins Havon Finney, a four-star prospect out of California who is ranked as the fifth-best cornerback nationally by 247Sports.

Overall, LSU now has 11 verbal commitments in the 2026 class. The class is led by five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, though the Tigers are working hard to hold onto his pledge. LSU is also in the running for elite offensive lineman Lamar Brown, the top-rated player in Louisiana.
