Stuttgart Sporting Director Dismisses Inter Milan Transfer Rumours: ‘We’re Moving Forward Together, New Contract Talks Ongoing’
Stuttgart’s Sporting Director, Alexander Wehrle, has refuted growing speculation linking striker Nick Woltemade with a move to Inter Milan, asserting that the club is currently in discussions to extend the player’s contract and has no intention of selling him.
Speaking to Sky Sport (via FCInterNews), Wehrle clarified that negotiations are underway with Woltemade and reaffirmed Stuttgart’s commitment to retaining the 23-year-old forward.
Inter Milan have reportedly identified Woltemade as a potential summer signing, following his impressive performances last season. The young German striker featured in 33 matches across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists, marking a standout campaign.
With Inter looking to reinforce their attacking options—especially after the departures of Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa—the club has already moved close to signing Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma. Additionally, they are eyeing Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund, with Woltemade considered a viable alternative.
Despite Inter’s reported interest, a deal for Woltemade is expected to be challenging. Stuttgart are believed to have set a minimum price tag of €40 million for the newly capped German international. Moreover, competition for his signature is likely to be fierce.
Nevertheless, Wehrle was clear in his stance. “We’re going into next season with Nick—no question about it,” he stated. On the subject of a contract renewal, he added, “There’s no urgency, but we’re always in open communication with our players and their representatives, including Nick.”
In summary, Stuttgart are not entertaining offers for Woltemade at this stage and are focused on securing his future at the club through ongoing contract talks.
