The American Hockey League (AHL) has witnessed a new milestone. Linus Karlsson, forward for the Abbotsford Canucks, set a new AHL postseason record for the most goals scored by a Swedish player. During Game 3 of the 2025 Calder Cup Finals, Karlsson netted his 11th goal of the playoffs, surpassing the previous record of 10 held jointly by Andreas Johnsson and Mikael Andersson.

Karlsson has been instrumental in Abbotsford’s playoff success, leading the team in scoring with 11 goals and nine assists over 21 games. Although he missed part of the regular season due to a call-up to the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, he still delivered an impressive 23 goals and 16 assists in just 32 games for Abbotsford. Earlier in the year, he also broke the franchise record for most career goals with the AHL Canucks, reaching a total of 66.

During his NHL stint with Vancouver in the 2024–25 season, Karlsson made an impact with three goals and three assists in 23 games, including his first-ever NHL goal on January 29, 2025, against the Nashville Predators. Karlsson has been part of the Canucks organization since 2019, when he was acquired in a trade from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Jonathan Dahlén.
