BREAKING NEWS: Denver Nuggets Part Ways with Lithuanian Executive After 12 Years Leaving Team Without Full-Time GM or Assistant GM Ahead of 2025 NBA Draft…

The Denver Nuggets are parting ways with Lithuanian executive Tomas Balcetis, just days ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, leaving the franchise without a permanent general manager or assistant GM. According to ‘The Denver Post’s’ Bennet Durando, the team has decided not to renew Balcetis’ contract.

Balcetis began his tenure with the Nuggets in 2013 under then-GM Tim Connelly, starting out as the head of the analytics department and later advancing to assistant general manager. Widely regarded as a rising star in NBA front office circles, Balcetis was nonetheless overlooked for a promotion when former GM Calvin Booth was dismissed in April. Instead, the team appointed Ben Tenzer, GM of their G League affiliate, as the interim general manager—highlighting the organization’s stance on its leadership priorities.

With Balcetis now officially out, and less than two weeks until the NBA Draft, the Nuggets face a leadership gap at the top of their basketball operations. Tenzer remains in the interim role and is reportedly still under consideration for the full-time GM position.

Additional Team Stats:

This season, the Nuggets led the NBA in two-point shooting accuracy at 56.9%, averaging 32.4 made two-pointers per game. They finished the regular season ranked first overall with a win-loss record that peaked at 52 victories and dipped as low as 14 losses. Nikola Jokić led the team in made two-point field goals.
