Suns Unimpressed by Spurs’ Trade Proposals for Kevin Durant

The Phoenix Suns reportedly remain underwhelmed by the trade packages offered by the San Antonio Spurs in their pursuit of Kevin Durant.

Earlier today, reports emerged indicating that Kevin Durant has narrowed down his list of preferred long-term destinations to three teams. The San Antonio Spurs are among them, but striking a deal with Phoenix appears to be challenging.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Suns are not particularly impressed with the assets San Antonio has offered so far in discussions for Durant.

“Sources indicate that Phoenix is not enthusiastic about the players San Antonio has proposed in trade talks,” Fischer reported.

While it’s widely believed that Durant would be eager to team up with rising star Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs have reportedly only been willing to part with experienced players like Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Harrison Barnes.

Fischer also noted that San Antonio recently secured De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings on favorable terms. As such, they are hesitant to include newly crowned Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle or their No. 2 overall pick in this month’s draft in any Durant deal—moves that the Spurs reportedly consider off the table.

Although Vassell may represent the most promising asset currently available to the Suns, questions remain about how well he would fit in Phoenix’s rotation, especially given his positional similarities with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal
