JUST IN: Frankfurt Responds to PSG Clause on £85M-Rated Hugo Ekitiké Transfer Speculation Amid Chelsea and Manchester United Interest…
Eintracht Frankfurt have addressed speculation over the future of their star striker Hugo Ekitiké, who remains a key target for both Chelsea and Manchester United. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain stands to earn 20% of any future sale due to a sell-on clause agreed during Ekitiké’s transfer to Germany.
The 22-year-old forward is widely expected to move this summer, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Chelsea have maintained their interest. However, a deal remains far from completion.
“Chelsea are seriously interested in Ekitiké, a player they admire,” said Romano. “But negotiations haven’t advanced because Frankfurt responded to inquiries by stating their price tag: €100 million. That figure is currently too steep for Chelsea, but we’ll see if that changes or if the club adjusts its transfer plans later in the window.”
Frankfurt Hold Firm Amid Premier League Pursuit
Despite growing attention from England, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has been clear that Ekitiké will only leave if their demands are met.
Ekitiké, who made a significant impact in his debut Bundesliga season with 22 goals and 12 assists after joining from PSG, is under contract until 2029. Frankfurt reportedly value him at around £85 million.
“We’re under no pressure to sell,” Krösche told Wiesbadener Kurier via The Mirror. “If the offer doesn’t match our valuation, Ekitiké will stay.”
Manchester United Joins the Chase
According to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have now entered formal discussions with Frankfurt. The club has shown serious interest and gathered all relevant information regarding a possible deal.
While Chelsea and Liverpool continue to monitor the situation, Manchester United has become a major contender for Ekitiké’s signature. Frankfurt’s price remains firm at €100 million.
