Ekitike Aware of Liverpool’s Situation as Chelsea and Man Utd Remain Interested
Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, who has attracted attention from Chelsea and Manchester United, is reportedly aware that Liverpool must first sell players before they can move to sign him.
Ekitike impressed for Frankfurt throughout the recently concluded season, helping to soften the impact of losing Omar Marmoush to Manchester City during the winter transfer window.
Frankfurt managed to secure a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga, but Ekitike could soon follow Marmoush out of the club, despite only recently being acquired on a permanent deal.
The French striker could command a fee of up to €100 million, as Eintracht Frankfurt are holding out for a substantial offer. Three Premier League clubs—Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool—are believed to be closely monitoring his situation.
As reported by Sky Deutschland, both Chelsea and Manchester United have recently gathered details about a potential transfer. Liverpool, on their part, are confident in their standing in the race but are constrained by the need to sell players first. Darwin Núñez is thought to be a prime candidate for departure, a reality that Ekitike is already aware of.
How swiftly Liverpool can generate funds remains uncertain, but Núñez is increasingly seen as likely to be offloaded to make room for new signings.
Ekitike also encountered English opposition this season when Eintracht Frankfurt faced Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League, and he previously turned down a move to Newcastle United in favor of joining Paris Saint-Germain.
Frankfurt initially brought Ekitike in on loan from PSG before securing his services permanently. The 22-year-old ended the season with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances, underlining why top English clubs are keeping tabs on him.
Liverpool, eyeing a future without Mohamed Salah, are believed to see Ekitike as a potential long-term replacement and are strategizing to bring him to Anfield.
