Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche has made it clear that the club is under no obligation to sell Hugo Ekitike during the summer transfer window, despite growing interest from Manchester United.
United are eager to bring in a new striker following a dismal 2024/25 season that ended with them in 15th place and a negative goal difference of -10. Under manager Ruben Amorim, the team struggled to find the back of the net, making attacking reinforcements a top priority. After securing the services of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are now shifting their focus toward landing a proven goalscorer and finalizing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
According to *The Peoples Person*, United have recently contacted Frankfurt to inquire about Ekitike’s availability and the potential terms of a transfer.
Frankfurt have reportedly placed a hefty £85 million price tag on the 22-year-old forward, who has enjoyed a resurgence in Germany after a difficult period at Paris Saint-Germain. In the just-ended season, Ekitike delivered standout performances, netting 22 goals and contributing 12 assists across 48 appearances in all competitions.
Alongside United, Ekitike has attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool. Chelsea are currently considered the frontrunners, having been engaged in negotiations with Frankfurt for several weeks as they try to reach a fee agreement.
However, Frankfurt have remained firm on their valuation, with Krosche issuing a strong message to interested clubs. Speaking to *Wiesbadener Kurier*, he stated, “If the price isn’t right, then he’ll just stay with us. We don’t have to sell Hugo.”
For United to afford Ekitike, they may need to sell players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, or Tyrell Malacia. Offloading these individuals could generate the necessary funds to support Amorim’s transfer strategy.
