Lindsey Vonn Joins Advisory Board at Athena Capital Venture Firm…

Renowned ski champion Lindsey Vonn is making significant strides into the investment sector by joining the advisory board of Athena Capital, a women-led venture capital and private equity firm that supports the growth of tech-enabled businesses.

Vonn, known for her exceptional speed on the slopes and a remarkable comeback at 40 during this past winter season, has her eyes set on competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics. Beyond skiing, she’s now stepping into a new role where she’ll provide strategic insights to Athena Capital.

In the firm’s announcement, Vonn shared her enthusiasm: “Athena Capital’s straightforward investment strategy and the depth of expertise among its team were major factors in my decision to join the advisory board. I’m excited to begin contributing to a company whose mission closely aligns with my own goals.”

Isabelle Freidheim, founder and managing partner of Athena Capital, expressed her excitement about Vonn’s appointment, noting their longstanding acquaintance through conferences and Vonn’s involvement with the U.S. Olympic Committee. “We are honored to welcome Lindsey to the Athena Capital community,” Freidheim stated in the release.

Though widely recognized for her achievements in skiing, Vonn is no stranger to business. She founded Après Productions, a full-service production company, and launched the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, which focuses on empowering young girls from underserved backgrounds.

Her investment portfolio already includes stakes in two National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) teams—Angel City FC and the Utah Royals—and she’s collaborated with leading brands such as Head and YNIQ.

In a 2023 interview with Entrepreneur, Vonn revealed her constant drive to grow: “I’m always eager to learn. I ask questions, explore opportunities, and look for new pathways into entrepreneurship, business, and investing.”

Her accomplishments in skiing are equally impressive—three Olympic medals, eight World Championship medals, and multiple World Cup titles. Most recently, she made history by finishing second in the Super-G at Sun Valley, Idaho, becoming the oldest woman ever to stand on a World Cup podium—a performance that defied expectations.

Freidheim summed up Vonn’s value to the firm, saying, “The mindset that propelled Lindsey to the top of both sports and business perfectly matches our firm’s ethos.”
