JUST IN: Dr. Tony Evans Steps Down After 48 Years Amid Personal Reflection and Restoration Process…

In June 2024, Dr. Tony Evans revealed his decision to step down from his role as senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, a position he had held since 1976—nearly 48 years.

He explained that the decision stemmed from a past moral failing, described only as a “sin” that occurred several years ago and did not align with biblical principles.

Dr. Evans clarified that while his actions did not involve any criminal activity, they reflected a lapse in righteous judgment. As a result, he began a process of personal healing and spiritual restoration under the guidance of the church’s elders.

This announcement was officially made during the church service on June 9, 2024, along with a formal statement issued by both Dr. Evans and the leadership of the congregation.

Following this development, multiple ministry-related activities, including a scheduled Mexican Riviera cruise, were canceled to give him time for reflection and recovery.

Since the announcement, Dr. Evans has not resumed his preaching duties, and there have been no further public details regarding the nature of the sin or when—or if—he plans to return to the pulpit.
