Only Three Rangers Players Reportedly Off-Limits in Trade Discussions
It has been reported that the New York Rangers are open to trading any player on their current roster, with just three notable exceptions.
According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, goaltender Igor Shesterkin, winger Artemi Panarin, and defenseman Adam Fox are the only players considered untouchable in trade negotiations.
Rangers Eyeing Defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov This Offseason
As the NHL offseason approaches, the Rangers are said to be targeting defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov once free agency opens on July 1.
Shesterkin and Fox remain under long-term contracts, while Panarin is set to reach unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026.
Staple also notes that the Rangers, along with the Buffalo Sabres, Utah Mammoth, and Seattle Kraken, are actively looking to revamp their rosters.
Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury had already circulated a league-wide memo earlier in the 2024–25 season signaling his intention to shake things up.
Following the team’s failure to make the playoffs, Drury seems determined to implement significant roster changes.
The Rangers have already switched head coaches, and several players, including Chris Kreider and K’Andre Miller, have been linked to trade rumors.
It remains to be seen whether these speculations will translate into concrete moves by Drury.
