Three Hurricanes Players Rank in Top 20 of Selke Trophy Voting
Staal and Jarvis Earn Multiple First-Place Nods
The full results for the 2024-25 Frank J. Selke Trophy voting were unveiled on Monday, with three members of the Carolina Hurricanes making the final cut.
The Selke Trophy, presented annually to the NHL forward who best excels in defensive play, saw votes cast for Jordan Staal, Seth Jarvis, and Sebastian Aho, all recognized by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association. Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov secured the award for the second consecutive year.
Staal received five first-place votes, while Jarvis earned two. Notably, Carolina was the only team with three players finishing in the top 20 of the voting. Staal’s recognition follows his second-place finish in the 2023-24 season.
The Hurricanes have previously captured the Selke Trophy twice in franchise history, with Rod Brind’Amour winning the honor back-to-back in 2006 and 2007.
