Bruins Executive Discusses Top Draft Prospects Ahead of 2025 NHL Draft as Franchise Eyes Long-Term Success With Highest Pick in 15 Years…

With Marco Sturm officially named head coach, the Boston Bruins have now shifted their focus to another major priority: the 2025 NHL Draft in Los Angeles.

The timing is critical, as the NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo is underway and the Bruins hold the No. 7 overall pick — their highest since selecting Tyler Seguin second overall in 2010. Remarkably, Boston is one of the few playoff-contending teams to be drafting in the top 10 this year.

“This is an exciting time,” said Ryan Nadeau, Boston’s director of amateur scouting, according to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald. “We’re exploring a different level of talent than usual.”

So far, the Bruins have interviewed around 85 prospects in brief sessions. This has allowed general manager Don Sweeney and Nadeau to directly assess players they’ve mostly only observed via video or through regional scouting reports.

“While we’ve watched them on the ice all season, this gives us a better understanding of who they are as individuals,” Nadeau explained. “We’re interested in the person behind the player.”

One standout being closely watched is Swedish center Anton Frondell, who already has professional playing experience.

“He brings a mature style of play,” Nadeau noted. “He has a solid build, is effective defensively, and isn’t afraid to drive to the net.”
