Surprise Nuggets Trade Rumor Twist Emerges Ahead of Offseason
The Denver Nuggets narrowly missed advancing past the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
Despite parting ways with long-time head coach Michael Malone late in the regular season, interim coach David Adelman guided the Nuggets to a hard-fought seven-game series against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
The playoff run showed Denver can still compete at an elite level — even under temporary leadership. Still, adjustments will be necessary to stay competitive.
Nikola Jokic, the three-time MVP and NBA champion, remains the franchise cornerstone. The team must make strategic moves to maximize his prime years.
During the playoffs, forward Michael Porter Jr. struggled to make a significant impact, sparking speculation about potential offseason changes. But a recent report from Sam Amico suggests Denver may not be eager to break up its core just yet.
“Even with Jokic as the focal point, the Nuggets still need support,” Amico reported. “Sources say the team is reluctant to move on from key players of their 2023 title run — Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and now Christian Braun. Jokic, of course, is untouchable.”
It’s no surprise Jokic isn’t on the trading block. As a generational player, he’s simply not someone you trade — unless a rare situation forces it.
Aaron Gordon has proven to be an ideal fit next to Jokic, while Braun continues to earn his place. Beyond those names, however, Denver may be open to discussing other players.
With a new head coach and general manager in place, the Nuggets should feel empowered to shake things up — especially if it improves their chances of capitalizing on Jokic’s championship window.
