‘Was to poor’ – Former Canucks’ Coach Brutally Criticizes Canucks’ for Lack of Facilities an Reveals the Reason Behind his Departure to Flyers…

Rick Tocchet couldn’t help but highlight one major upgrade he’s enjoying after making the move from Vancouver to Philadelphia.

Reflecting on the Flyers’ practice setup, Tocchet said, “I walked through the practice facility—really got into the depths of it—and was amazed by how many resources there are. The practice rink alone has three sheets of ice,” he said enthusiastically. “As a coach, you see that and think, ‘Wow.’ These are the kinds of tools that help you grow and improve as a coach. It’s incredibly appealing.”

While he refrained from directly criticizing his former team, Tocchet added, “I can’t speak to what’s happened in the past. All I can talk about is what I’m seeing now, and the relationships I’m building here—they’re really exciting.”

The Canucks remain the only NHL franchise without a dedicated practice facility, while the Flyers boast a state-of-the-art complex in Voorhees, New Jersey, complete with multiple rinks and even a team merchandise shop. Recent upgrades to the main entrance only add to the professional atmosphere.

Tocchet’s comments, though measured, underscored just how important having access to top-tier facilities is to him as a coach. With deep roots in the Flyers organization, Tocchet seems energized as he begins this next chapter in his coaching career.
