Stars Hold 2-1 Lead Over Jets After First Period in Game 3…

The Dallas Stars took a 2-1 lead over the Winnipeg Jets at the end of the first period in Game 3 of their second-round playoff series on Sunday.

Thomas Harley put Dallas back in front with a goal late in the opening period, breaking a 1-1 tie with just under five minutes remaining.

Earlier in the period, Kyle Connor tied the game for the Jets at 1-1 with a wrap-around goal that slipped past Stars goalie Jake Oettinger at the 9:53 mark.

Dallas opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game when Roope Hintz deflected a power-play goal past Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.

The best-of-seven series is currently even at 1-1 after both teams split the first two games in Winnipeg. The Stars took Game 1 with a 3-2 win on Wednesday, while the Jets responded with a dominant 4-0 shutout in Game 2 on Friday.

Game 4 will be played Tuesday in Dallas.

The Jets reached this round after a dramatic seven-game series against the St. Louis Blues, erasing a two-goal deficit late in Game 7 before winning in overtime.

Similarly, the Stars moved on by defeating the Colorado Avalanche in another intense seven-game series. Mikko Rantanen scored a hat trick in the third period against his former team to complete Dallas’ comeback from two goals down in Game 7.
